Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I hope you are having a lovely weekend!
A year ago I wrote a post about what I was thankful for, titled "So Much to Be Thankful For". So, I thought it would be fitting to add the "MORE" to the title of this thanksgiving post. Many things have happened since this time last year; I spent Christmas in the hospital, I've had an eleventh surgery and am no longer sick every day, I was diagnosed with PTSD and depression, I volunteered in Kenya, was a medal-bearer for the Rick Hansen Relay, donated my hair, found out I have extra chromosomes, overcame PTSD, and much more. I am thankful for every minute of each and every day.
It wasn't all great and wonderful - in fact, some of it was quite horrible - but everything that has occurred are the things that make me who I am. And I love who I am. I am thankful for everything that I have had the opportunity to learn, I am thankful for the safe and beautiful country I call home, I am thankful for all the food and clean water we have access to, I am thankful for my school, for beaches, music, sunrises, and sunsets. Most importantly, I am extremely grateful for all of the amazing people in my life who have supported me and helped me through everything; family, friends, teachers, doctors, nurses, counsellors, therapists, and even some people who I have never met or barely know. Thank you for inspiring me, for giving me hope, and for reminding me of my passion to help others. Thank you for everything that you have taught me. I would not be where I am if it weren't for you; you help give me the strength I need to keep going. Thank you so much.
I have not listed even close to everything that I am thankful for. My list would go on forever. I guess, just like the post last year, I can sum it all up by saying I'm thankful for the amazing life that I have and all the amazing people in it. That is so true. And every day that I wake up, I will have more and more to be thankful for. I may not see it right away, or it might be very clear. It may be simple, or it may be complicated. Whatever happens, I will find the good in it; I will always have something to be grateful for.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, hug your loved ones tight, and take a second to thank the wonderful people in your life.
