International Women's Day

Mrs. Blakeway and I visiting with mamas from Kenya

I think March is one of my favourite months, for many reasons.  I love the weather that March brings; sometimes sunny spring days, heavy showers, or possibly even snow.  There's just something about March weather that I find so lovely.  It's refreshing.  Over the past few years, March has also been the month that I travel to Kenya or Ghana - experiences that I really cherish and am extremely grateful for.  I don't know, maybe the fact that I'm born in the month of March has something to do with my love for this time of the year.  Like I said though, I think there's many reasons.  One of them is International Women's day.

I love to hear stories of the kindness, the compassion, and the strength of women.  I believe they have a unique ability to touch lives and change the world.  All over the globe, there are things that make being female challenging but it gives me hope to see what's being done to overcome those difficulties and create opportunities.

There are so many women in my life that inspire me every day.  My mom is amazing and I love her so much.  She has been by my side through difficult times and times of celebration, along the way teaching me to have courage.  Some other fabulous ladies include Kristi Blakeway (founder of Project Hello and Beyond Hello) or Robin Wiszowaty (author of My Maasai Life and Kenya/Ghana Program Director with Free the Children).  There are so many more though, and I have so much love for all the ladies I know and the ladies all over the world.

Robin Wiszowaty with my mom and I!
